Introduction about RRB :rrbl patna 2

First time in July 1942, Railway Recruitment Board was established for recruitment of Subordinate Staff on the the North West Railway with a Chairman and two members . On reviewing the position of railway in 1945, another Services Commissions at Bombay, Calcutta, Madras and Lucknow were set up under Railway Board. These Commissions were introduced with two fold functions of recruiting class III staff and also tender advice to General Managers for dealing with appeals from subordinate staff on disciplinary matters.

Objectives of RRB:

The RRB is headed by Chairman, assisted by  Assistant Secretary, with a small team of Group ‘C’ & Group ‘D’ staff to run the RRB Office.

Railway recruitment board was set up to fulfill the following objectives:

1-By formation of different RRBs , work load is shared among all the RRBs.

2-Selection process regarding recruitment is easier in each region of India.

Development stages of RRB:

Major development in railway are given below :

1-In 1948, the Indian Railway Enquiry Committee reviewed working of commissions.

2-In 1949, due to financial problems, Recruitments have been stopped on Indian Railways thus numbers of commissions was reduced to one centrally located at Bombay.

3-In 1953-54 when Economic conditions of Indian Railway improved, 4 service  commission were again set up at Bombay, Madras, Allahabad and Calcutta.

4-In 1973 ,an additional commission was set up at Muzaffarpur for the requirement of north railway and another additional commission was set up at Secunderabad to fulfill the requirement of newly formed South Central Railway.also a branch office of Calcutta Service Commission was opened at Ranchi.

5-In 1983, 7 more commissions were set up  at Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhuvneshwar, Chandigarh, Jammu and Srinagar with sitting at Leh and Trivendrum.

6-In 1984, 2 more service commissions were set up at Malda and Gorakhpur
